Child Tax Credit Could Be Permanent Under Democrat Neal’s Plan

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal says he is working on a proposal to make permanent the child tax credit set to be expanded under the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill.

  • Neal says at a press briefing that he’ll share his plan “in the near future”
  • NOTE: Stimulus bill would expand the child tax credit for 2021 to $3,000 from $2,000 for each child ages 6 to 17. Children 5 and younger would be eligible for $3,600.
