Colorado will allow student athletes to be compensated starting in 2023, the same as a similar law in California.
Gov. Jared Polis (D) signed the bill Friday.
The measure (S.B. 123) establishes the right of college athletes to receive compensation for use of their names, images, and likenesses. It also gives them the right to obtain professional and legal representation. The bill takes effect Jan. 1, 2023.
