A Connecticut town is suing the IRS to recover nearly half a million in taxes which it claims the government illegally assessed and collected.
The Town of Westport filed suit at the US District Court for the District of Connecticut on Wednesday, seeking a refund of $466,638 from the US over tax payments the town said the IRS misapplied to the wrong tax quarter in the 2020 tax year.
