Countries Must Follow EU With Tax Simplification, Official Says

EU countries must simplify their domestic tax legislation to reinforce the European Commission’s simplification effort, according to a senior official for the body.

“A more business-friendly environment would be possible only if this effort is mirrored by a similar effort at a national level,” Benjamin Angel, the director for direct tax at the commission’s tax department, said at the USA-EU Transatlantic Business Summit in Brussels on Wednesday.
