Multiple local governments can simultaneously stack cannabis taxes on dispensaries under the state constitution, a county told the Missouri Supreme Court.
The language of a constitutional amendment approved by voters says that municipalities “and” counties can place a 3% maximum cannabis tax—in addition to sales tax—on dispensaries in incorporated areas, Buchanan County’s Thursday amicus brief said. Buchanan County, which filed its amicus brief in support of St. Louis County, is litigating a separate case over the same issue at a Missouri appeals court.
