Couple Faces Sanctions in Tax Case for Abandoning US Deposition

An Idaho couple representing themselves in a tax delinquency case must face sanctions for their conduct during depositions, a federal court said.

The US is permitted to continue deposing David Wildish after the plaintiff abandoned the process by claiming he needed time to make a motion, then filing no motion to terminate or limit his deposition, the US District Court for the District of Idaho said Monday. Having made “no attempt to explain why they abandoned the deposition,” David and Debra Wildish were sanctioned by the court for the costs of the US’s motion to compel discovery.
