Lawmakers Upbeat on Tax Crypto Bill Odds

A Thursday House Ways and Means Committee roundtable on cryptocurrency taxation is generating optimism that action could be taken by year’s end, lawmakers who attended said.

Members said the closed-door session gave them a chance to ask a panel of experts questions on consumer protections for people saving for retirement who invest in the assets, and how to mitigate criminal activity.

“I believe we have a great shot at this,” said tax writer Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio).
