Democrats Ask IRS to Auto-Send Payments to Veterans, Disabled

House Democrats are asking the IRS and Treasury Dept to automatically send the $1,200 economic stimulus payments to those reliant on veteran benefits, very-low income seniors and those with disabilities, according to a letter sent Friday.

• NOTE: Treasury has said those reliant on veterans benefits and Supplemental Security Income, which are normally not required to file taxes, need to file a simplified tax return to receive the stimulus payments
• “Many lack the capacity or resources to file taxes, especially during the current pandemic when tax assistance sites are closed and many other normal resources are unavailable,” the letter says
