Over 100 Democratic members of Congress want a federal appeals court to maintain the lower court’s decision to block the IRS from sharing immigrants’ data with the Department of Homeland Security.
The IRS is pushing the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit to overturn an injunction that stops it from sharing taxpayer data with immigration authorities as part of the Trump administration’s broader deportation effort. Members of Congress filed an amicus brief Friday in support of the plaintiff, the Center for Taxpayer Rights.
