Democrats Urge IRS to Curb Aid to ICE in Immigration Crackdown

Democrats cautioned the IRS against cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to verify information about people suspected of residing in the US illegally, in a letter to agency chiefs Tuesday.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-Calif.), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.), a member of the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committee, wrote to IRS Acting Commissioner Melanie Krause and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem raising concerns over such cooperation. The letter was signed by over 50 other members.
