Denmark Seeks $1.4 Billion in Tax Cuts For 2026 Draft Budget

Denmark aims to cut nearly 9 billion Danish krone ($1.4 billion) in taxes under a 2026 draft budget law presented Friday by the government.

The draft sets out detailed funding allocations and spending limits for the next fiscal year and will now be considered by the Danish parliament.

It would enshrine the phased scrapping of a tax on coffee, chocolate and other confectionery, valued at 1.3 billion Danish krone in 2026. This has been hailed by the country’s finance ministry as “the largest overhaul of excise taxes on groceries in more than 10 years.”
