Digital Taxes Are ‘Here to Stay,’ UN Official Tells Symposium

Digital service taxes are here to stay and countries should find a uniform way of administering them, a UN official said Thursday.

Michael Lennard, chief of International Tax Cooperation and Trade in the Financing for Development Office at the United Nations, said he thinks there are legitimate reasons for DSTs.

“I think DSTs are here to stay. There are legitimate reasons for them,” Lennard said during a luncheon keynote at the National Association of Business Economics’s Transfer Pricing Symposium.
