District of Columbia Provides Washington Archdioceses Temporary Property, Excise Tax Exemption

The District of Columbia Mayor signed a law that includes exempting from real property tax, deed recordation tax, and transfer tax, certain properties of the Archdiocese of Washington. The law takes effect following approval by the Mayor and a 30-day period of congressional review. The law expires 225 days after taking effect. [B26-0613, enacted 04/22/26]
