Dutch Report Government Deficit to GDP Ratio of 2.6% in 2021

The Dutch government’s 2021 budget deficit to GDP was 2.6%, slightly above its previous submission of 2.5% to the European Commission in April, according to a report by the Central Statistics Office.

  • The Central Planning Bureau’s latest predictions for 2022 see a 0.9% deficit to GDP ratio for 2022, boosted by strong GDP growth
  • Tax revenue in 2021 rose by EU25b, the largest y/y increase since records started with the current calculation method in 1995
