Ecuador Congress Passes Bill Regulating NGOs, Corporate Taxes

Ecuador’s National Assembly passed a fast-track bill regulating non-governmental organizations, according to a statement sent by the office of congress President Niels Olsen.

  • The legislation, the fourth economically urgent law passed since the second inauguration of President Daniel Noboa in May, sets “differentiated control obligations, promotes accountability mechanisms and strengthens state supervision in economic and financial matters”
  • A majority of 78 of 151 lawmakers passed the bill, witch includes taxes on non-reinvested corporate profits and modifies rules governing the cancellation of mining concessions
