Eleven States File Bills to Curtail Tax Incentive Poaching

A campaign to halt “race to the bottom” tax credit bidding wars for corporate relocations is gaining new momentum in state capitols after the idea hit a brick wall in 2020 when legislatures shortened their sessions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A coalition of state lawmakers called Monday for the creation of a tax credit non-aggression pact to be called the Phase Out Corporate Giveaways Interstate Compact.
