Employer health plans and insurers continue to fall short when when it comes to how they treat mental health coverage, the head of Department of Labor’s employee benefits division said Thursday.
An upcoming report to Congress will outline those shortcomings, Lisa Gomez, the assistant labor secretary who oversees the Employee Benefits Security Administration, said at a conference sponsored by the Employee Benefit Research Institute. The report, she said, “sadly, does not show as much progress as we would hope and like, but we’re continuing to try to work in that direction to make more progress.”
