The EU should drop its plans for a digital tax if there is an overall agreement at the OECD, Pascal Saint-Amans, director of the organization’s Center for Tax Policy and Administration, said Wednesday.
The European Parliament plans to recommend that the European Union introduce a single, bloc-wide digital levy, with national digital taxes being phased out.
“I think from an OECD point of view what’s important is that we don’t see new unilateral measures which could undermine a global agreement, ” Saint-Amans said. He was speaking at a European Parliament budget committee meeting.
