EU Dismisses Digital, Gambling Taxes in Amended Spending Plan

A late effort to include new EU-wide taxes in the bloc’s next budget plan fell through as none of the additional levies—on digital services, crypto assets, and online gambling—were included in the amended proposal.

That means that for now, the EU will only discuss the European Commission’s proposed levies: a corporate tax on large companies operating in the EU, a share of tobacco excise, and a tax on uncollected electronic waste, plus changes to the share of customs and value-added tax receipts.
