Any progress in reforming the way the EU taxes energy must not “further increase the cost of living for Europeans or make life more difficult for businesses,” according to a Belgian member of the European Parliament, Johan Van Overtveldt.
Van Overtveldt, who belongs to the right-wing European Conservatives and Reformists group, wrote in a draft report, seen by Bloomberg, on the EU’s proposed overhaul of the way it taxes energy, known as the Energy Taxation Directive.
