The EU agreed to debate in December a controversial bill to overhaul its electricity and fuel tax system.
Hungary, which holds the EU’s rotating presidency, will put the bill, called the Energy Taxation Directive, on the agenda for a Dec. 10 meeting of the bloc’s finance ministers. A political decision needs to be made on what to do with the bill, according to people familiar with the matter.
