The European Parliament on Thursday voted to approve a call to simplify the EU’s tax code as part of the bloc’s drive to boost its economy and industry.
The report, written by center-right Cypriot deputy Michalis Hadjipantela, calls on the European Commission to press ahead with measures that would simplify the bloc’s tax code, cut reporting requirements and facilitate automatic information exchange via a so-called EU Tax Data Hub.
499 deputies voted for the resolution, with 66 voting against and 53 abstaining, according to a European Parliament press statement.
