The EU’s plan to end tax exemptions for the aviation and maritime sectors have hit a snag due to objections from some member countries.
The objections were raised ahead of a Dec. 5 meeting of European Union finance ministers to approve a guidance document on energy taxation. The document, obtained by Bloomberg Tax, will serve as a guide for the European Commission, which plans in early January to propose revisions to the EU Energy Taxation Directive as part of a new initiative to reduce carbon emissions.
