EU Pushes 14 Countries to Implement Tax Data Sharing Rules

Fourteen EU countries face formal enforcement action for legislative delays that undermine tax transparency and anti-evasion efforts, the European Commission announced Friday.

Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland and Portugal face letters of formal notice for failing to fully implement crypto-asset transparency and information exchange rules, known as DAC 8.

Meanwhile, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania and Sweden have been cited for failing to fully implement automatic exchange of top-up tax information returns, known as DAC 9.
