EU Tax Bills Face Delays Amid Pressure to Ease Business Burdens

The European Commission’s 2025 tax agenda is in doubt, as it receives pushback from businesses and member countries on a long list of proposals that have been the subject of years of contentious debate.

That means everything on the table, such as overhauling energy tax policy and establishing a unified tax base across the bloc, could be on the chopping block.

“There’s a feelable sense of legislative fatigue among Member States and businesses, stemming from the relentless stream of EU tax proposals in recent years,” said Michael Schick, the European Tax Adviser Federation’s head of office.
