The European Commission May 4 issued State Aid Case Decision No. SA.122129, approving amendments to Ireland’s film tax relief regime, introducing a visual effects uplift. The amendments include measures to: 1) introduce an additional aid category providing enhanced support for qualifying visual effects work; 2) increase the regime’s estimated total budget to 188 million euros (US$219.8 million) in 2026 and 192.2 million euros (US$224.7 million) in subsequent years; 3) apply the amendments until Dec. 31, 2028; 4) set eligibility conditions for the visual effects uplift, including a minimum of 1 million euros (US$1.2 million) in eligible visual effects expenditure; and ...
