Ex-Bankruptcy Judge’s Case Manager to Be Questioned in Fee Fight

A court employee who worked closely with the former Houston bankruptcy judge mired in an ethics scandal over his relationship with a local attorney is in line to be questioned about his knowledge of the romance.

The proposed deposition comes as a part of efforts by the Justice Department’s bankruptcy watchdog, the US Trustee, to claw back more than $13 million in fees that former judge David R. Jones approved for the Texas-based law firm Jackson Walker LLP without disclosing his romantic relationship with a then-partner at the firm.
