A former Illinois state legislator failed to overturn her prison sentence for failing to file federal income tax returns on appeal, after the Seventh Circuit held the evidence supported her conviction.
Annazette Collins, who served in the Illinois General Assembly from 2001 to 2013 and is now a consultant, was properly sentenced to one year of imprisonment and one year of supervised release for underreporting her income from her consulting business in some years and failing to file tax returns at all in others, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said Thursday.
