A former tax partner at KPMG owes the federal government more than $115 million in unpaid income taxes and penalties, a complaint filed Wednesday in federal court alleges.
The US seeks $113 million in penalties against Robert Pfaff for failing to register tax shelters involving foreign currency trades he sold to more than 100 wealthy investors after he left KPMG. He was convicted in 2008 of tax evasion and conspiracy for designing and marketing the tax shelters.
