A former top executive at Russian gas producer Novatek PJSC was sentenced to seven years in prison for using Swiss bank accounts to hide more than $93 million from the US Internal Revenue Service, the Justice Department said.
Mark Gyetvay, the ex-chief financial officer at Novatek, was convicted by jurors March 28 of four counts, including failing to file tax returns in 2013 and 2014, making a false statement to the IRS, and failing to file a Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts, or FBAR.
