Republicans are continuing to pull back from a bill that would abolish the IRS and enact a federal sales tax.
The Fair Tax Act, introduced this Congress by Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.), would institute a 30% national sales tax.
Ways and Means Committee member Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) expressed several concerns over the bill, including how it cuts bureaucratic costs.
“This becomes very difficult to see how it saves any money on the administrative side,” Hern said Wednesday at a District of Columbia Bar conference.
