House appropriators advanced a spending measure that takes aim at the IRS, the District of Columbia’s policies on crime and guns, and the Biden administration’s plans to move the FBI headquarters.

The House Appropriations Committee on Thursday approved the Financial Services and General Government spending bill 33-24 on a party-line vote, with Democrats criticizing conservative riders regarding DC laws and culture war issues. The bill would provide $23.6 billion to programs under agencies like the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service, a roughly 10% cut from the current level.
