Florida Lawmakers to Return on Property Tax Overhaul, Budget

Florida lawmakers plan to return to the state capital for a special legislative session to pass a budget for fiscal 2027 and develop a strategy for curbing homeowners’ property taxes—key priorities left undone during their regular session.

Lawmakers floated more than a dozen property tax overhaul proposals during Florida’s regular session, but none of them advanced to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) before the Republican-controlled House and Senate adjourned March 13.
