Democratic Rep. Earl Blumenauer introduces the “Rebuild America Act”, which would gradually boost U.S. gasoline and diesel taxes to invest in the country’s infrastructure.
- The legislation would raise the gas tax by 5 cents a year over five years, index it to inflation, and establish Congress’ intention to “replace it with a more equitable, stable source of funding within 10 years,” a statement from Blumenauer’s office says.
