Gas-Tax Infrastructure Bill Unveiled by Democrat Blumenauer

Democratic Rep. Earl Blumenauer introduces the “Rebuild America Act”, which would gradually boost U.S. gasoline and diesel taxes to invest in the country’s infrastructure.

• The legislation would raise the gas tax by 5 cents a year over five years, index it to inflation, and establish Congress’ intention to “replace it with a more equitable, stable source of funding within 10 years,” a statement from Blumenauer’s office says.
