The Georgia Governor signed a law that amends the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, to establish an optional five-year motor vehicle registration and revalidation system for eligible non-commercial vehicles while maintaining annual emission inspection certification requirements. The law includes: 1) requiring emission inspection stations to electronically transmit certification notices to the Department of Revenue; 2) authorizing the Department to suspend registrations of vehicles failing to comply with emission requirements; and 3) prohibiting refunds of registration fees upon cancellation or transfer of registration. The law takes effect July 1. [S.B. 384, enacted 05/11/26]
