May 20, 2026, 9:29 PM UTC

The Georgia Governor signed a law amending §48-8-3 to provide a sales and use tax exemption for tangible property and construction materials, used in buildings at wharf lots near state-owned convention facilities located on river islands at state boundaries. The exemption is limited to $7 million in aggregate refunds, with purchasers required to pay taxes initially and file claims for refund without interest. This exemption will be effective from July 1, 2026, until June 30, 2033, or until the $7 million cap is reached, whichever occurs first. [H.B 1209, enacted 05/11/26]
