The Georgia Governor signed a law that includes: 1) providing a homestead exemption from Laurens County school district ad valorem taxes for educational purposes in the amount of the full assessed value of the homestead for residents of the school district who are 80 years of age or older; 2) providing that the exemption is subject to Laurens County school district voter approval in the November election; and 3) providing that the exemption is effective on Jan. 1, 2027 if approved by the voters.
