A multilateral tax treaty text that’s part of the OECD-led international tax deal does not meet its goals to provide more stability and certainty in the international tax system, the US Chamber of Commerce told the Department of Treasury.
In a letter addressed to Assistant Secretary of Tax Policy at Treasury Lily Batchelder, the Chamber said the treaty makes mention of several provisions—including the treatment of withholding taxes and the elimination of double taxation—that warrant more attention from the US government.
