The IRS Criminal Investigation is teaming up with four other countries to target more cryptocurrency cases with the help of data and artificial intelligence, James Lee, the chief of IRS Criminal Investigation said Thursday.
The Joint Chiefs of Global Tax Enforcement, or J5, was created in 2018 in response to the OECD’s request for more countries to go after tax crime. The US is one of five countries participating, along with Canada, Australia, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
