Effort to Nullify DC Tax Law Advances
Congressional Republicans’ effort to invalidate a local Washington, DC, tax law has moved forward on multiple fronts.
The House in a 215 - 210 vote Wednesday passed a measure (H.J. Res 142) to disapprove of a DC law that severs the district’s tax code from portions of congressional Republicans’ 2025 tax-and-spending law, including new tax breaks for tips and overtime. A Senate committee hours earlier approved a similar resolution.
