Republican tax-writers overseeing the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s nominee to run the IRS chief counsel’s office asked the longtime litigator to curb audits of specific tax avoidance techniques, especially those allowing the wealthy to dodge estate taxes.
The questions and Donald Korb’s responses, which were published Monday, came as the Senate Finance Committee considers his nomination to rejoin the IRS as its top lawyer. He testified before the panel earlier this month.
