The IRS shouldn’t launch an investigation into the National Rifle Association at the request of Democratic lawmakers, Senate Finance Chairman Chuck Grassley said Oct. 10.
Senate Finance Democrats in September released a report detailing links between the NRA and Russia in advance of the 2016 election, including possible violations of U.S. tax laws. The Democrats, led by ranking member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), urged the IRS to review the NRA’s status as a tax-exempt organization.
