Itai Grinberg, a Treasury Department official who has helped lead the US’s participation in the 2021 global tax agreement, confirmed Friday that he is leaving Treasury to return to academia.
Now Treasury’s deputy assistant secretary for multilateral tax, Grinberg will depart in January to resume his position as a professor at Georgetown Law School. Bloomberg News reported earlier this week that Grinberg was expected to leave soon.
“We’ve reached a useful moment of transition,” Grinberg told Bloomberg Tax after he confirmed his departure in a speech at a conference hosted by George Washington University Law School.
