H&R Block Hit With False Ad Lawsuit Over Tax Service Pricing

H&R Block Inc. has been accused of falsely advertising the pricing of its in-person and online tax preparation services.

H&R Block falsely stated it is the only tax preparation company to offer “upfront and transparent” pricing, competitor Happy Tax Franchising LLC alleged in a complaint filed Jan. 15 in the New York State Supreme Court. The case was moved Jan. 16 to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
