H&R Block, Intuit Cut Bigger Checks to Lobbyists This Year

H&R Block and Intuit spent big on lobbying in the first months of 2023, as the tax preparation companies seek to influence a divided Congress that’s mulling oversight and potential action on a range of tax issues.

The tax prep heavyweights both invested more in federal lobbying in the first quarter than the same time in 2022, House and Senate lobbying disclosures show. The lengthy list of advocacy issues include the employee retention and child tax credits, IRS taxpayer assistance programs, and implementation of last year’s tax-and-climate bill.
