HILL TAX BRIEF: Senators Seek to Salvage House-Passed Tax Bill

Senators are working to see if they can find a path forward on the House-passed $78 billion tax bill that’s been stuck in the upper chamber for more than a month.

The bill, which would renew business tax breaks and expand the child tax credit, needs 60 votes to pass the Senate and has some bipartisan support, but Republicans may put up roadblocks because Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and some other GOP lawmakers on the panel have not endorsed it.
