HILL TAX BRIEFING: Biden Keeps Pressing for Tax-and-Spend Deal

President Joe Biden is renewing his efforts to guide infrastructure and social spending proposals across the legislative finish line, setting up more meetings with the opposing sides of his party.

The administration continues to look for a path forward for a tax-and-spend package that was originally intended to address everything from health care and paid leave to climate change, as well as various changes to the tax code targeting corporations and the wealthy. Negotiations have dragged on, with Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) calling for the proposals to be scaled back in cost and scope.
