HILL TAX BRIEFING: ‘Full Speed Ahead’ on Tax-and-Spend Plan

Democratic leadership is vowing to press ahead with President Joe Biden’s economic plans despite continued pushback from key moderates.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told reporters Wednesday that Democrats are “moving full speed ahead” on a tax-and-spend package of up to $3.5 trillion. Schumer’s remarks came a week after Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) called for a “pause” on the effort, citing concerns about inflation and the national debt.
