President Joe Biden’s pick to lead the IRS chief counsel’s office, Marjorie Rollinson, answered senators’ written questions on a host of topics, including a high-profile case in which the IRS admitted to backdating a penalty-approval document.
Several lawmakers asked Rollinson about the matter, in which the IRS agreed to settle a US Tax Court conservation easement case and forgo a $15.2 million penalty. The senators asked Rollinson whether she would investigate the conduct of IRS employees in the case and report her findings to the panel.
