HILL TAX BRIEFING: No Movement on Stimulus Efforts

Lawmakers continue to talk publicly about a stimulus package, but yesterday brought no major movement.

A framework for $1.5 trillion in relief, unveiled yesterday by the bipartisan Problem Solvers caucus, elicited shrugs from House leadership. The plan was meant to break the deadlock on the next aid package, and would include $500 billion in aid to state and local governments, splitting the difference between what Democrats and the White House have called for.

But the package is about half the size of what House Democrats are seeking (H.R. 6800).
